sketch #217

today, a couple of my scrapping buddies got together at my buddy, sharon's house to scrap but because i was on standby for work, i had to lock myself at home and wasn't able to join them. so since they were scrapping in the north-east of singapore, i thought i should scrap at home too.

this was a simple sketch which had many layers and allowed me to make use of more patterned papers from a kit my cousins got me for Christmas last year.

i completed a layout of a photo of angel and me, in a train in tokyo. i made use of sketch #217 from http://www.pencillines.com/

here is how sketch #217 from pencillines.com looks like...

...and here is my take on the sketch...

materials used: patterned papers and button-american crafts; cardstock-bazzill basics; alphas-american crafts, jenni bowlin; flowers-prima marketing; diecuts-sizzix

and since francis and i decided to be home for Christmas this year, i spent the rest of my afternoon, prepping the boxes, which i'm gonna fill with candy for my nieces and nephews...even though we won't be having our usual turkey dinner on Christmas eve, because my hosts for our beautiful turkey dinner will be away on holiday...in tokyo! *sobs*

but nevertheless, i'm just glad that i get to be home during this time of the year-somehow it's especially difficult to travel for work during december...let's hope i can find more time to scrap!

thanks for looking!

/hugs

uh oooooh....

a couple of weeks ago, sharon invited a few of us over to scrap at her place. i printed from the internet and brought a copy of 'imaginisce's october sketch' along so we could do a layout based on that.

here's how the sketch looks like...

...and here's my take on the sketch...

this was a fun and simple layout which i completed rather quickly, except for the fact that i had to leave it aside for over a week because of work commitments. oooh this layout was made possible thanks to the kit that cindy and norick got me for Christmas 2009-the papers matches so well with the colors on ashley's dress!

materials used: patterned papers and alphas-american craft; cardstock-bazzill basics, dcwv; flowers-prima marketing; diecut-sizzix, tim holtz alteration

oooo by the way, ive got about a week to Christmas and i'm not done with my shopping yet, it will help if they will just tell me what they want instead of letting me guess what is best for them... *sighs* hopefully i can squeeze out some time to complete the projects i needa do before the year ends, will write again soon!

have a great friday and thanks for looking!

samuel turns one...

so okay, i know samuel turned one a few months ago but seeing how i could not go to the beautiful nautical theme birthday party, i obviously didn't get my chance to blind my baby nephew! but thankfully, my dearest sister, help snap a few shots of the baby boy and this was all made possible because of her!

here's my first layout of samuel and hopefully i'll be able to make it for more family events and can snap more pictures of the lil ones...hope samuel and his parents will like it.

material list: patterned papers-making memories, dcwv, theresa collins; cardstock-dcwv; diecut-jenni bowling; transparent overlay-hambly studios; alphas-american craft thickers, jenni bowling
i also wanna thank sharon, my buddy, for inviting me over to her place where we had a mini scrap session. there was where i stuck 80% of this layout down and where they gave me ideas to make the rosette like the one samuel has, in the picture.
thanks for looking!

time for a stocktake...?

generally, the people who have seen my 'stash' of paper would always tell me that i have enough to open my own shop and that i should stop shopping and buying new stuff, so i find it really frustrating that i had to spend 3-4 hours last night trying to find suitable papers to match the photos for 3 other LOs that i plan to do =(

so, after listening to my bf nag at me for months and months and months...ive decided that maybe i can find some stuff which i dont think i would use and try to help them find a better home, a home where someone else would truly appreciate its existance and would use it for some future projects.

that's when i posted some photos, which i took with my sucky mobile phone camera, on facebook. here's the links to some of the items...

photos and details of more items will be posted once ive found more stuff that im willing to part. do contact me if you're interested in any of these items. =)

anyway, i was a good girl today, while waiting for the darling bf to wake up from his nap, i managed to scrap a little =) i complete one of the 3 layouts that im hoping to do and here's what i came up with...

it's meant to be something simple and fun! i made use some old stash (sassafras, october afternnon patterned papers; american crafts thickers; making memories brads) and some new stuff (tim holtz tag & bookplates L die; EK success edger punch; tattered angels, chalkboard glimmer mist in strawberry shortcake) and a few other supplies for the embossing on the tags as well as the background.

amd though it's not a flattering photo of me but i love how the photo captured how happy zackie and i were just spending some time on a weekday evening to have ice cream. of course i need to thank my photographer who captured that moment - thank you angel!

seems like im off to work again tomorrow and wont be able to scrap until next week, hopefully i'll be able to complete another layout by end of next week...wish me luck!

our 'lavender dreams'...

it's been months since i last blogged and it's mostly due to the fact that i've been LAZY...and un-inspired by the huge stack of work-in-progress projects that have been sitting around.

but i'm glad that today, i managed to force myself to complete this WIP because i absolutely love this photo and it just brings a smile to my face as it reminds me of the time francis and i spent at nakafurano, hokkaido.

the journaling is hidden in the little brown envelope which i had embossed with flowers and embellised with flowers that i had cut with my tim holtz 'tattered florals' <---i love this die! and the patterned papers of basic grey's 'kioshi' collection also matches the feel i want for this layout.

btw, i'm sorry if the photo is rather blurry, i've lost my good old friend - lumix. he decided that he had enough of being abused by me (tossed around, dropped onto the floor, scratched its skin off, being brought to places of extreme temperature, etc...), the final straw for him was when i decided to test is he would survive in a pool of water (when he wasnt made to withstand the water...) and he said 'i had enough, jan...goodbye!'

so now im left to rely on my sucky camera on my mobile until i save enough for a new lumix. ooooh well, until the next post, ciao!

on a lazy saturday aternoon...

ive been up since 10-ish this morning, trying to finish a layout which i did in class, its almost completed except for a butterfly which i decided to glossy accents and is now sitting on the dining table drying.

im suppose to start on another layout from scratch but i found out that theres a crack on the cover of my beacon's glue and it started to leak all over my tool box =/ im not a happy scrapper!

anyway ive decided to take a couple of minutes off scrapping to post some photos of the last layout that i did...

i just love the color combination of red and black and i love how i managed to find a piece of checked paper that i can use for this layout. anyway, those photos on the layouts were taken when francis and i did out 1st london together.

i cant wait for our next trip to london for the duck from four seasons!

*grins* i know it seems crazy to scrap about a cut but this was one of the few photos i took when zackie and i went skating and it just reminds me to push on whenever i feel like giving up...
until the next post...

my 1st post as a scrapper and my 1st rak!

okokay i have to admit, i was all excited about this agreement i had with angel, where we would prepare and exchange a rak for each other.

so the big day came and she handed me the rak she prepared for me and it contained 3 pieces of patterned papers, a sheet of stickers from crafty secrets, 2 butterflies which she punched outta cardstock and crackled accents and a block of wood. =/

okay look here, im not exactly good with my layouts and this girl expected me to alter a piece of wood!!?! i went like 'wth!!?!' and sat there staring at my piece of wood and told myself i would use everything else in that pack except that piece of wood.

so for the next 2 weeks, i started to plan what i wanted to do a layout of, printed photos and got down to sketching my layout and this is what i made...

yahyah...so much for 'layout'!she had complained that i should just use the wood and make some sign so this popped outta my head at the very last minute!

and no i still havent got used to the idea of cutting up my pretty papers or using up my supplies but im just gonna have to learn to stop ‘feeling’ for my supplies and use what i have *sighs*

wish me luck!
