SSJ scrap session 01/11

yippieee! what a great way to start 2011! sharon, serbina & i had our 1st scrap session for the year, on the 5th of january. to make things more interesting and to get us all going, we had a little game where we each brought a sketch and we all had to make a layout based on that sketch - which meant that by the end of the day, we all went home with the 'skeletons' or 'foundations' for 3 layouts!
initially, even i was a little afraid that we wouldn't be able to complete the base for all 3 layouts but i think we completed our tasks well and we were all left with some 'homework' of embellishing and adding the final touches to our layouts when we left serbina's.

here is my take of the sketch that sharon brought...

materials used: patterned papers - graphic45; cardstock - dcwv; alphas- american craft thickers, jenni bowlin, brads - making memories and inks - ranger/tim holtz distress inks

i love peter rabbit and i know my nephew, samuel, cannot sleep without his best friend, peter rabbit. thus there was no doubt in my mind, when i first saw graphic45's 'once upon a springtime', that these papers were going onto a layout for samuel.

this posting is late, by the way, because samuel's mummy saw the layout and provided me with a photo which was more suitable - a photo that actually had 'peter rabbit' and not just any friend from the 'peter rabbit' collection. thank you, constance, for providing with a selection of photos for me to choose, please continue to snap more photos of the little one!

the sketch that serbina chose was from http://www.pagemaps.com/ and here is my take of it...

materials used: patterned papers - my mind's eye, cardstock - dcwv, alphas - american craft thickers, stickers - tsukineko and inks - ranger/tim holtz distress inks.
i've been wanting to scrap these photos for ages but i wasn't sure how to place the photos or what papers to use. i'm so glad that i finally found papers that would bring out the colors of the cathedral in the photo and thanks to serbina for the sketch!

i can't wait to add the finishing touches to my last layout for ssj's scrap session 01/11, please come back again to see what i created with a sketch from http://www.pencillines.com/

enjoy the rest of the week!

an overdue layout...

yippieee...i'm so glad i finally managed to complete my latest layout. you see, francis and i have had our babies for years and we've taken sooooo many photos but i never got down to scrapping them and they've been grumbling about it for the longest time and i'm just ready happy that i finally got a page for them.

it's a simple and messy layout, pretty much like me and my room =Þ and this photo was taken onboard a limited express train that we took from sapporo to hakodate when we went for a summer holiday in japan last year.

yes, in case you're wondering, my babies do travel a lot and as my sister would put it, they probably have more frequent miles than her =) well, i can't pack my sister in my bags so it's not like i dont wanna help *winks*

materials used: patterned paper and rub-ons-li'l davis designs; lace-little yellow bicycle, ki memories; cardstock-dcwv; stamp-unity stamp; die-cut designs-pitatte album decoration sheet; embossing powder-american crafts pewter

thanks for looking and come back soon because sharon, serbina and i are having a scrap session later so hopefully we'll have some stuff to show soon!

*hugs

happy 2011!

happy new year people! hope the 2011 started out well for you, i had a great start to 2011 doing things that i love and spending time with the family, most of them at least. i managed to complete a simple layout of a photo i 'stole' from sharon's facebook account, i simply couldn't resist not scrapping it ...

the layout is based on sketch #52 from pencillines.com. this is a sketch drawn by a local scrapper whose been a design team (DT) for a lot of big names companies, emeline ng-seet. here is how the original sketch looks like...

...and here is my take of it...

the materials used: patterned paper-creative imaginations; cardstock-dcwv; flowers: prima marketing; alphas- american crafts, doodlebug designs, jenni bowlin; miscellaneous: inkssentials glossy accents, autumn leaves buttons, doodlebug designs brads, sizzix big shot, tim holtz alteration die and ek success punch.

i completed this in about 3hours, i probably would have taken 3days or 3months last time *winks* so i'm glad i'm slowly trying to speeding up on my projects so i can work on more! by the way, i would really appreciate if the people around me can take more photos so i would constantly find inspiration to scrap, i'm still in search for that perfect lumix!

have a wonderful 2011 people, may you all be blessed with love overflowing, happiness everlasting and good health to enjoy what 2011 has to offer!
*hugs*
