it's almost time for...

yes, it's almost time for the annual 'floor the love' dance event. it's organized by a friend who set up KSDP (korea-singapore dance project) a few years back. i was surprised at how many people would actually attend the event, i guess i just didnt know that singaporeans were so interested in street dancing.

so today's post is dedicated to a couple of people who will grace the event this year, namely Chris, the person behind KSDP, and freestyle Ali, a korean dancer whom i got to know through 'floor the love'.

here is a layout i did of chris with a photo that angel took when she was taking a break, visiting chris on Christmas Island, where chris is currently based now...

supplies used: patterned paper - dcwv, my mind's eye, doodlebug; alphas - american crafts; diecut system - sizzix; punches - martha stewart and ek success.

and of course, i made a layout of ali too! this photo was taken in october 2010, when i was in seoul for a work trip and ali travelled hours across seoul just to have a quick 1 hours meet up before he headed for the jazz concert, which he tried to get me to go.

supplies used: patterned papers - my mind's eye; cardstock - dcwv; alphas - american crafts; punches - martha stewart and ek success and others - corrugated cardboard.

and although i wont be around for this year's 'floor the love' event, i hope i get to catch these guys before they head back to seoul and christmas island. wish me luck!

by the way, this year's floor the love event will be held on 26th of march and you can check out more information at www.floorthelove.blogspot.com for tickets to the event or how to take part in the event or for information on dance classes with the famous freestyle ali.

the smurfs...

hope you had a wonderfuly weekend, well...mine was really fulfilling! i came back from work on friday and got straight down to planning a new layout and by the time i went to bed on friday night, i had been awake for over 43hours, with about a 5hours nap inbetween.

but i think it was all worth it. i completed a layout that is a tad bit overdue and all just in time for the design team search on the sketch blogs, http://www.pencillines.com/ and http://www.thescrappiest.blogspot.com/

anyway, back to my story on the smurfs. my friend, smurf, found his perfect smurfette and they decided to tie the knot and celebrated their love for each other on 23rd october 2010. so i decided to make a little something for them to always remember that beautiful day.

this layout is based on the design team search sketch for 2011 over at the pencil lines sketch blog, here is the link to the sketch... http//www.pencillines.com/2011/02/design-team-search-2011.html and here is my attempt at it...

supplies used: patterned paper - making memories; cardstock - dcwv; trims - making memories; flowers & pearls - prima marketing; brads - making memories and doodlebug designs; die-cuts - k&co; blings - basic grey; alphas - american craft; doily - royal lace and gold trim - from a bookshop in NZ

trying to layer this layout was initially a pain but once i got started, i couldnt stop! it is so puffy and popped up that it is a tight squeeze in its shadow box but i love it! well, me loving it, isnt good enough because its gonna be a gift for smurf & smurfette, so hopefully they'll like it too!

i hate how i need to go to work soon but good thing is that i get to come home tonight...yippieee! hopefully i wont be too tired because i have a 2nd layout which is about 85% done! cant wait to share it!

until the next post...
*hugs*
